The special branding of the new Great Western Air Ambulance Critical Care Cars
Great Western Air Ambulance Charity provide critical care and pre-hospital emergency medicine at the scene of the accident, reaching the patient on the road and in the air.
In 2020 they introduced a new model to their fleet of Critical Care Cars to replace the old vehicles which were becoming increasingly unfit for purpose.
The new vehicle is a Skoda Kodiaq that has undergone a bespoke conversion including adapting the 720-litre boot to store oxygen tanks and ventilators and moving the infotainment system to allow the installation of a 999-response screen.

Skoda Kodiaq joins Great Western Air Ambulance Charity critical care team
The very special branding of the Critical Care Car has been developed to match their helicopter’s graphic, the Helimed 65. Working closely with the client to agree the best use of reflective materials, we advised a livery design which maximises their brand presentation whilst ensuring maximum levels of visibility.
The distinctive artwork that has transformed a white Skoda to a striking Critical Care vehicle is made by combining our special printed reflective materials with a blue vehicle wrapping layer. The yellow and green Battenburg, which recalls the NHS ambulance colours, is Engineering Grade, while on the windows we used printed Contra Vision®, a special one-way material which allows the team inside to still be able to see out of the windows, with graphics on the outside.
As the helicopter is operated during daylight hours only, the cars enable the GWAAC team to respond at night time or when the location is easier to access by road and whenever it’s unsuitable for the helicopter to fly. The vehicle is entirely reflective and outlined with 3M Diamond Grade™ white strips to ensure it is clearly identifiable on the road during the day and night, and in any weather condition.
We meticulously templated and digitised the vehicle to ensure that all of the livery perfectly fits the contours of the bodywork and to allow complete repeatability across the fleet with a quick replacement parts supply.
The result is a very effective design that transforms the Skoda in a highly visible vehicle that can safely drive on the road saving lives.
